I began decorating my house for fall on October 1st… for one because that’s the first time I could pull out all of my autumn decorations without getting an eye roll and an “it’s not fall yet” lecture from the hubby and not to mention, I figured that was when it was socially acceptable considering it was still about 90 degrees outside up until then. 🙂 With that being said, I realized all of my favorite decorations from my old apartment weren’t enough to fill my new home, plus I wanted some new and cute items. So, I booked it over to Kirkland’s only to find that they were pretty much sold out of everything. When I looked distressed, the flamboyant sales clerk behind the counter literally said to me… “I can’t believe you’re just now shopping for fall”. What?! I thought it was just now acceptable to do so!
If you’re like me and waited “too late” to shop for fall, here are some of my favorite fall finds that I have come across so far and that you definitely need in order to celebrate the season!
Fall means hot chocolate, apple cider, warm tea and pumpkin spice lattes, which is why you always need a cute autumn mug to drink them in. I am in love with this “You had me at pumpkin spice” mug by Cami Monet Miller. She has a ton of cute stuff, so you should check her out.
When regular pumpkins just won’t do, you need white pumpkins with gold lettering from LaVidaLoyca. They’re so cute & match way better with neutral home decor. I took the cheap way out and bought some real mini pumpkins from the grocery store and used a gold oil calligraphy pen I had, but these cuties will last as home decor for years.
When you’re looking for a not-so-cheesy way to decorate for Fall, plus add some cozy accents to your home, the Target Cozy Fall Throw Pillows and Blankets Collection is the way to go. I adore the subtlety and deep autumn colors. Not to mention, they have tons of other fall type throw pillows you can mix and match in to give it a little more festivity if you’d like.
When the leaves begin to change and you feel that cold, crisp air on your face when you step outside, it means it’s time for sweaters, scarves, boots, leggings and the works, but one of the most amazing things about this season are comfy long sleeve tees like this “You had me at pumpkin spice latte” t-shirt by Moss and Crown.
I’ve never been a huge decorator for Halloween, but I am a sucker for all things autumn, harvest, Thanksgiving, etc. There’s nothing better to welcome you home each day than a beautiful fall wreath. I really like this selection from Pier 1, because they have a wide variety of colors (not just your normal oranges, reds and yellows) and because they’re not all expensive. Wreaths generally are pretty pricey, so it’s cool that they have options as affordable as $13 or so and up.
These are just your autumn basics… I could go on and on about all of the pumpkin flavored foods that are currently in-store, my favorite olive, plum and cognac clothes that are out right now or all of the new fall scented candles I’ve come across lately, but hopefully, this will get you started. Don’t worry, it’s not quite winter yet and you have plenty of time to revel in this glorious fall weather.
Send me your favorite fall finds, I always love adding to my collection!
C’est la vie,
